Goals
We plan to Educate over 1500 children and Skill 1700 women in the next year


Capabilities & Challenges
Capabilities:
- Skilled and experience manpower led by a visonary team of professionalsas well as our strong governance capabilities.
-Our Setu Shikshajyoti Kendra at Village Nithari, Noida, Uttar Pradesh India is a 28 room facility comprising of Classrooms, Science Labs, Library, Computer room, Activity room, a proper lunch Room and a Kitchen. The school is running on Solar power also. Adequate seating space is also available for staff and hygienic wash rooms are also available separately for boys and girls. All the students are provided, Books, Uniform, all Stationery items and Midday meal at the school. In additional the students also undergo regular Health, Eye and Dental Checkups along with immunization Camps.
-The Setu School at Village Sadarpur launched in 21-22 comprises of Classrooms, Science Lab, Library, Computer room, Activity room, a proper lunch Room and a Kitchen. Adequate seating space is also available for staff and hygienic wash rooms are also available separately for boys and girls. All the students are provided, Books, Uniform, all Stationery items and Midday meal at the school. In additional the students also undergo regular Health, Eye and Dental Checkups along with immunization Camps.
-Vocational Skill Development courses are currently offered at our Multi Skill Centre at Village Nithari, Village Sadarpur and Sector 12 in Noida Uttar Pradesh as well as at our centres at Dawas and Laliya ka Bas, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
-The Setu Centre for Development of People with special needs is located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. It has courses like Indian sign Language to Basic IT, Tailoring, Hospitality, Beauty and Wellness, Paper Products making, Jewellery making, Scanning Documents, Basic Cookery, Remedial Classes, Grooming & Professional etiquette
and English Communication. We have made a provision of a Physio-care and Rehabilitation Centre available for People with Special needs from the under-served and needy community.

Challenges:
1. Qualiity Teachers are not available at salaries we can afford, however thru regular internal training we have been able to overcome this to some extend.
2. Contraint of Space - Since we work in Urban vIllages space is an issue and this has limited our reach to admit more students.
3. In vocational skilling considering the Women we work with restrictions on their taking up jobs is a negative, proper counselling has helped improve this.
4. We do not work will the Govt. but change in Govt policies in futire on NGO s acan impact. Current policies have helped us move ahead.


Impact: Indicators & Progress
  • Indicators:
    no of children educated and no of skilled people placed into jobs.
    Progress FY 2021-22
    - Setu Shiksha Jyoti Kendra, Nithari, Noida started in 2008 with 2 students today has 475 students with 325 girls starting 2022-2023. The school works in 2 shifts. We started the 2022-2023 session with 122 students in the pre-primary, 143 students in the primary section and the rest 210 students in the middle & the senior secondary section. 36 new students will be admitted to class 11 in July 2022 and the strength will go upto 511. Tabs and computers were provided to 121 students for online classesin August and Sept 2021 to ensure they did not suffer with their studies. Based on learning and ambition of the senior students over the age of 18 we also empower them thru skill based training on completion their school education to take up jobs and simultaneously continue with their higher studies thru self-earning.
    -Project Saksham – Vocational Skill Development Creating Employability : Various short-term courses are offered at our Multi Skill Centre at Village Nithari,Village Sadarpur and Sector 12 in Noida (UP) as well as at our centres at Dawas and Laliya ka Bas, Jaipur, Rajasthan and have a capacity to skill 2240 students in a year. Over last one year 1518 people gained skills including 1494 women and 694 placed. 35 women across Noida and Jaipur were provided Sewing machines. Our centres
    -Project Saaman – Mainstreaming of People with Special Needs: The Setu Centre for Development of People, Noida(UP) started with 15 students in 2016 and last year the total enrolments, assessed and certified 60 and 9 have been employed/self- employed/Mainstreamed.
    -In September 2022 we have setup another school in village Changoli Greater Noida with 500 students.
    - we have 3 Multi Skill Vocational Training Centres in Noida and 2 in and around Jaipur in Rajasthan have been established catering to skilling around 1700 students per annum. -The Setu Centre for Development of People with special needs is located in Noida (UP) covering around 100 students each year along with Physiotherapy facilities to cater to 100 people per annum
    - Setu school is the First " Green School NGO in Noida.
    New Projects:
    -The Setu School at Village Sadarpur opened a new school there which now has 390 students and the school operated in 2 shifts up to class 8.
    -We have launched our new Women empowerment centre at Sector 12 Noida.
    COVID 19
    -. Masks were provided to the poor free of cost. We provided to PPE kits to front liners also. In addition we have are supporting a rural 35 bed Charitable Hospital run by ex- army personnel near Pataudi in Haryana, India. We have arranged for the hospital protective gear, linens for hospital use as well as in the Covid Ward, equipment to set up a Neo Natal Intensive care unit.
    -Under Project Poshan, we tied up with individuals and Corporates to deliver more than 594000 meals during the lockdown period.
    -As part of our Rehabilitation Program with the onset of winter 5000 blankets were distributed across north India – Simla in Himachal Pradesh , Jaipur in Rajasthan, Noida, Ghaziabad and Farrukabad in Uttar Pradesh, Gurugram in Haryana and Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh

  • Education Project : Project “Uday”:

    1. Formal Education at the Setu Shikshajyoti Kendra Village Nithari Noida:Setu provides formal education to children of poor families. Setu Shiksha Jyoti Kendra, Nithari, Noida, started as a primary school over the last twelfth years the strength of children has gone up to 474 and 337 of these are girls. The school works in 2 shifts.

    2. In October 2021 we extended Formal Education at the Setu Shikshajyoti Kendra Village Sadarpur Noida: Setu provides formal education to children of poor families. The current strength of children is 395 of these 290 are girls and the school works in 2 shifts.

    We have world class educational facility and provide books, Uniform, all Stationery items and Midday meal at the school. In additional the students also underwent regular Health, Eye and Dental Checkups along with immunization Camps.


    We introduced smart classes to help enhance the quality of delivery as well as leaning of the students. Digitization shall also help in standardising curriculum and ensure that the marginalised student get the same quality of education as any other child in the country.

    In addition support is provided for Education beyond Class 12 thru Scholarships.
    Skilling Projects

    - “Project Saaman” - The Setu Centre for Development of People with special needs is located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. Our endeavour is to mainstream the students by getting them jobs or arranging self-employment opportunities after completion of courses and certification. We started with 15 students in 2016 and till date to summarize we have 714 the total enrolments, assessed & certified 497 and 130 have been employed/self- employed/Mainstreamed.
    Students enrolment go thru initial assessment and based on their capability are put into skill based courses. The Courses offered range from Indian sign Language to Basic IT, Tailoring, Sign Language, Hospitality, Beauty and Wellness, Paper Products making, Jewellery making, Scanning Documents, Basic Cookery, Remedial Classes, Grooming & Professional etiquette and English Communication. We have made a provision of a Physio-care and Rehabilitation Centre available with caters to People with Special needs from the under-served and needy community.


    “Project Saksham” - The Focus of the Setu Vocational Skill Development Program is mainly to empower women with Employability skills leading them to become independent thru jobs or self -employment.

    Various project have been launched and Skills are offered in Basic IT, Tally, English Speaking and Retail, Tailoring ( Low end as well as High end) & Textile, Hospitality, Health care, Fashion Design, Beauty & Wellness and Financial Literacy.

    Vocational Skill Development courses are currently offered at our Multi Skill Centre at Village Nithari and Village Sadarpur, and Sector 12 in Noida Uttar Pradesh as well as at our centres at Dawas, Jobner and Laliya ka Bas, Jaipur, Rajasthan. We have Skilled 12466 people in the last 10 years and placed / generated self employment for over 4200.

    “Project Saksham” which was extended to our Multi Skill Centre in Rajasthan laying our footprints outside Uttar Pradesh and our centres at Village Nithari Noida and Village Sadarpur offer Vocational Skill courses and now have a capacity to skill 1680 students in a year.

    Health and Rehabilitation Programs
    – Awareness programs on Aids and Cancer are conducted across companies in NCR covering around 25000 employees over the last 5 years.
    – Blood Donation Camps are organised yielding around 5000 units of blood across Corporates.
    – Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Workshops are held for employees of Corporates covering around 400 employees…...
    – Child Sexual Abuse Workshops are held at various Schools/Villages in GBN covering over 5000 children/youth.
    – Investor Awareness Programs were conducted at 70 Corporates, RWAs and colleges in NCR covering over 3000 people.

Background

Organisation History
Setup in 2003 as a trust by our founder Trustee. The objective was to Transform Lives of the under-served thru Education and Skill cum Employability programs. We work in urban slums and villages with low income group communities. Empowering them to stand on their feet and earn a livelihood for themselves.


Purpose & Strategies
Skill and Empower the Unserved thru Education and Skilling of Girl child and Women as well as differently-abled. Skill and Empower the Un-served.
We work mainly with Communities, Corporates, and other NGOs. We do not work directly with the Government.
-With Communities, we look at the under-served and involvement in our Education and Skill cum Employability programs.
-For Corporates we are the implementing partners for their CSR Initiative and for NGOs, we work jointly to achieve and assist in meeting our objectives.
-We also have some NGOs as our technical partners and have the right to use their content to foray into our Skilling Initiative.

We are into Formal Education which is provided at our Schools in Noida and Greater Noida which is a time tested model and providing Vocational Skilling at our centres. which involves Mobilisaing the Women, Training and Certfying then and then helping them into employement and Self employment.
