Background

Organisation History
Patients requiring tertiary care, need lot of funds. Such aid is usually available at very high price and not in time. There was a need of an organization, which will care for this and will take complete responsibility of funds for treatment of a needy patient.
Dr. Charudutt Apte, Founder Trustee of Samavedana had treated thousands of patients free of charge before Samavedana, but his lone efforts were not enough for such a large number. So, he started Samavedana to give a wider platform to his efforts of helping each needy patient. Now, Samavedana through public donations take complete responsibility of treatment and help is made available within 2 -3 working days.
¬¬¬¬¬¬After finishing a decade of existence, Samavedana underwent ‘Impact Analysis Study’ by Narsi Mojnji Institute of Management Sciences, Mumbai. It led to the areas of intervention for current decade. Accordingly, we have decided to focus on 3 areas: Women health, rural health and primary health. We also decided to work on 3 pillars of healthcare: Treatment, Prevention and Awareness. The programs of Samavedana are based on these pillars.

Purpose & Strategies
Samavedana’s mission for next decade, till 2026 is based on 3 aspects, Treatment, Prevention & Awareness.
●To provide healthcare, technical knowledge and / or logistics support by partnering with / complement like-minded organizations, who believe in delivering (fair practices) / (good clinical practices).
●To provide monetary aid for availing tertiary care; (where) / (with the help of) specialist doctors (who) waive off their fees and the hospital provides service at cost.
●To open clinics facilitating primary care, guidance & counseling. The clinic which is modern form of ‘Family Doctor’, which takes care of health of entire family (and / or community). The value is added to this by use of telemedicine, generic medicine, counseling, speciality camps and health education.
●To run programs for prevention & early detection of specific ailments. Our current mission is to fight cancers in women.
●To create awareness through check-up camps, health-talks, demos, presentations and any other means.
●For our community acitivities, we focus on women health, woman being the pillar of the family, but ignored by all.
●To develop innovative, replicable healthcare models necessary to accomplish our mission.

Vision
To bring essential healthcare within the reach of the underprivileged; with Compassion (Samavedana).
