Programme Title
"Financial Aid to poor patients for tertiary medical care"
Description
This is an ongoing activity started by Dr. Charudutt Apte and his colleagues to provide healthcare facilities to poor and needy patients. To streamline this activity, in 2003, Samavedana was established. The financial aid for specialized medical care is provided to the underprivileged sections of society in Sahyadri Group of Hospitals. The doctors treat Samavedana patients for free. The hospital gives concession. The patient is asked to pay as per his capacity and the remaining amount is borne by Samavedana. Following are the general eligibility criteria for getting Samavedana aid.
1.Children, young patients, bread earners of the family
2.Help is given for complex and complicated surgeries(Tertiary care)
3.Patients with good prognosis
4.Non Addicts

Objectives
(1) No patient should be deprived of medical care due to lack of financial resources.
(2) Need for treatment should not bring financial misery to the entire family.
(3) The helped patient should get back to his feet and lead a healthy active life. He should become an asset to the family.

Programme Title
School Health Programme
Description
Based on the concept of capability development by Nobel Laureate Prof. Amartya Sen, we designed the school health project for secondary schools from Mulshi block of Pune district. The project is aimed at developing health capabilities of school students who can in future take care of health of their own community. The Mulshi block was selected on the basis of results from pilot project implemented in five schools from two rural blocks of Pune district and one slum Pune city. Project is in second year of implementation.

Programme Title
Preventive Cancer Screening and Care for Women
Description
The project intends to screen selected group of women from selected villages for cancer (Breast and Cervix). The screened and identified women will be taken through series of tests and if cancer is diagnosed will be treated for cancer based on stage of cancer. Awareness sessions will inculcate cancer awareness among the female population of selected districts.

Objectives
1. To conduct screening for detection of breast and/ or cervix cancers at earlier stage
2. To find out correlation between current socio-economic status and cancer screening
3. To create awareness about women’s health with help of health talk.
4. To facilitate the women diagnosed with cancer to avail further investigations and / or treatment.

- Screen 6000 women in 2019-20 and 9000 women in 2020-2021
- Expad programme in nearby Tehsils/districts and/or Municipal hospitals/centes
