Programme Title
Tobacco Kills
Description
There are about 700,000 new cases of cancers every year in India out of which tobacco related cancers are about 300,000. Cost of treatment of oral cancer is about 3.5 lakh. This can be completely prevented by simple changes in lifestyle and regular screening and even have health benefits that reach beyond cancer.
We have served countless people by our website www.oralcancerawareness.org, by our documentary called Tobacco Kills, by our lectures and presentations and camps.
We work on a miniscule budget because the website was created and maintained by our trustee Dr Suwas Darvekar, and the entire work of camps, documentary and presentation is done by Dr Suwas Darvekar thereby reducing the cost. The website was devised so that it can reach a mass audience at least cost.
