Installation of Tube well for safe drinking water in Sundarbans
State
  • West Bengal
District
  • South 24 Parganas
Scarcity of safe drinking water in the villages is acute. The existing tube wells are very distance. There are about 53 households in the surrounding area of the proposed point. The families of the area go to fetch drinking water about ¾ k. m. and ½ k.m. in distance. The people are to depend on pond or tank water for drinking and domestic use. But an essential component of primary health care is clean water. Clean water is vital to our health, communities and economy. People depend on clean water for their health.
As per need of the local people, the organization installed two tube well near the house of Tapan Giri at Dakshin Laksnminarayanpur village and at Ganga ghat in Govindapur Abad village from both the own fund of the organization and contribution of the villagers. The organization has made a plan to install 20 Tube Wells within 2024-25.
Sustainable Agricultural Development through Sustainable Farming Practices
State
  • West Bengal
District
  • South 24 Parganas
The economic development of the inhabitants of Sundarbans depends solely on agriculture. The most commonly cultivated crops include paddy, chilly, potatoes, beans, tomatoes, dal, etc. The targeted villages have two distinctive seasons for crop cultivation; the first season is from October to January and second season between February to June. Though the agriculture production has improved in Sundarbans over the last decade, it has not yet reached its true potential. For development of sustainable agricultural practices, the organization adopted a few strategies which are: Farmers trainings, Field visit and workshop, Supply IEC materials, Supply seeds, Fertilizers and modern instruments.
Our teams undertaken a baseline study to understand the existing agriculture scenario in the identified project sites of 3 Nos. of village. Rural cultivators of Kishori Nagar, Baradapur and Kamdevnagar villages under Pathar Pratima block in South 24 Parganas district of Sundarbans in West Bengal are the target beneficiaries. The project has been implemented from both community contribution and organization own fund. 50% of the overall beneficiaries under this project were women.
