Rehabilitation of Mentally ill roadside destitute

Shree Amrutvahini Gramvikas Mandal is working for the homeless people with mentally ill. We provide the shelter, food, clothes, counseling and health services through our rehabilitation centre. The inmates are from all over the India.
1. Rescue & Legal Process: - When we found any wondering mentally ill destitute on road we pick up him or her by calling ambulance (Rented). As per legal process we inform to the nearest police station. There was 55 new people with mentally ill destitute has rescued by Shree Amrutvahini Gramvikas Mandal during the year of 2013-14.

2. Cleanliness: - After arrived in our center at first we feed them and start cleaning them. It starts from complete removal of scalp hairs. Thoroughly washing, cleaning of teeth, changing cloths etc.

3. Treatment & Counseling: - We start necessary psychiatric treatment after through investigations and clinical check-up. We found that in a short period patients starts improving. When they can recollect their memory, we try to find out their home. After few days most of the inmates can recollect their address and then we start our investigation to find out her home and reunite with family.

Shree Amrutvahini Gramvikas Mandal is organizing mental health check up camps in the rural as well as urban slums. During the year 765 beneficiaries from the families were attended the camp and taken benefits of the treatment and counseling facilities.

4. Rehabilitation or Re-union: Rehabilitation of mentally ill person is possible and successful only with her family. If no one is there to look after that particular patient at their home we are taking all responsibilities of that inmate. We have rehabilitated successfully 40 people with mentally ill roadside destitute in their own families.

5. Advocacy and sensitization Programme: in the year we conducted 4 sensitization programmes 934 people were attended this programme. And 3 Advocacy meeting with government facilities has conducted during the year. We have conducted 12 street plays on theme of mental health awareness.

Shree Amrutvahini Gramvikas Mandal is a Voluntary organization based in Maharashtra working for the rehabilitation of homeless people with mentally ill destitute with support of police and we provided them shelter,Food,Cloths and counselling Facilities through our center. After the treatment we find out their families and re-unitate them in their family.During the course 572 people have been re-united with their families after a spell of sustained care,Treatment & Psychological help offered by the Organization.
