Goals
1. Establishment of Extension Centre in collaboration with National Institute of Empowerment for Persons with Multiple Disabilities, Chennai, a Statutory Body under Govt. of India.

2. Establishment of Centre for B.Ed. & M.Ed. under Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi in association with Tripura University (Central), Agartala.

3. Establishment of residential Vocational Training Centre for Women with Special need, with Foreign Funding Agency.

4. Community Based Training & Rehabilitation Service for Special need Children with Foreign Funding Agency.

5. Establishment of Regional Resource Training Centre (RRTC) under National Institute of Social Defence, Govt. of India, New Delhi.


Capabilities & Challenges
1. To protect the rights of the vulnerable senior citizens and the children & persons with disabilities for overall welfare & betterment.
2. Capacity building on Education, Vocational, Sports, Socio-Cultural, Employment, Independent living and Full Participation.
3. To arrange Training for teachers & Unemployed youth on the methods & procedure as to how to provide quality teaching & Care Giving to the Special need Children for quality survival and Manpower Development on Geriatric Care for quality care giving.


Impact: Indicators & Progress
  • 1. Successfully Cornea Transplantation in one eye to one Deafblind girl child of our orphanage.
    2. Winner of Manobikas Puraskar 2014 in the category of Best NGO working in the field of disability in the North East India.
    3. Four individuals, who are only earning member of the family, suffering from cancer are living in better condition with financial support from our organization.

Background

Organisation History
We started our voyage in the year 1988. Since inception, we have been working in education & Training, Education of children with special needs, Geriatric care vocational training for youth with disabilities, Environmental care, empowerment of Women, Senior Citizens and persons with disabilities Empowerment of Women, Senior citizens and persons with disabilities, so that they can usher in a sustainable development in the society, remained our vision from the beginning.


Purpose & Strategies
To protect the rights of the vulnerable senior citizens and the children & persons with disabilities for overall welfare & betterment. Capacity building on Education, Vocational, Sports and Employment. To arrange Training for teachers & Unemployed youth on the methods & procedure as to how to provide quality teaching & Care Giving to the Special need Children for quality survival.


Vision
Our vision is to stand by the people in distress, specially the vulnerable senior citizens and the children & persons with disabilities. We uphold the way in our onward eyes the ideal & philosophy of Swami Vivekananda for the betterment of mankind

Chief Executive's Profile
Presently Abhoy Mission is giving rehabilitation, shelter and CBR services under the active leadership of Miss Susmita De, Secretary to that section of society which is holding by Persons with Disability and vulnerable groups. She has been holding the reign of Abhoy Mission since 1993-94. Under her capable leadership, Self Employment Training programs for youth with special needs especially tribal women in different Districts of Tripura were introduced. Abhoy Mission has been managing Children Home and Old age Home so smoothly for long under her suitable leadership. During her tenure Man power Development program under RCI for education of children with special needs was started in 1997-98 in Tripura, by Abhoy Mission. Similarly, manpower development program for care of geriatric people under NISD was started during her occupancy as CEO of Abhoy Mission in 2005-06. With her interest and management Help Age India started CBR program for elderly in Tripura in 2003. Later Give India has come forward with CBR program for elderly & children with special needs. For the first time in Tripura in 2006, with her interest & encouragement Care e & Protection of Deafblinds' was started in support of Sense International India. The National Trust under Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India entrusted responsibility of State Nodal Agency Centre for Tripura State for the period 2008-09 to 2010-11 & 2014-15 to 2019-20. In the year 2015-16, the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD), under Govt. of India, set up Extension Centre in Abhoy Mission. During her period as CEO, Abhoy Mission received National Award as Best organization for providing holistic & comprehensive service to persons with disabilities in 2018 from Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Govt. of India, Award for Best Samarth project for the year 2006-07 from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Manovikas Award 2014 for outstanding and exemplary contribution in the field of disabilities. From professional point of view Miss. Susmita De is a special educator recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India.

I : Member State Local Level Committee of the National Trust- West Tripura District, Sepahijala District, Khowai District & Dhalai District.
II : Member of District Monitoring Committee on Accessible Election for Persons with Disabilities of Sepahijala District & West Tripura District.
III. : Member of District Level Committee on Disability in West Tripura – Right of Persons with Disabilities Rules 2018
IV. : Member of District Mental Health Review Board West Tripura, Dhalai Tripura & Khowai Tripura District of Mental Health Act, 2017.
V. : Member of District Level Road Safety Committee of West Tripura District.
VI. : Member of Social Justice Standing Committee of Paschim Tripura Zila Parishad.

How you can help this Organisation

Volunteer Needs
38 Nos. of Volunteers are involved with different welfare activities of Abhoy Mission and have been rendering their service in various sectors viz. conducting surveys, awareness generation & sensitization programmes for the targetted clients availing of various facilities / scopes & opportunities as are eligible from Central & State Govt. as well as other sources. Among these volunteers; there are eminent Social Activists, Trained Social Workers, Specialist in Disability Affairs & Master Trainers in different Vocational Trades.


Staff Needs
30 Nos. of Contractual Staff (20 Nos. Full Time & 10 Nos. Part Time) have been working in different Schemes/Projects under Abhoy Mission viz. Aged Welfare, Disability Welfare, Human Resource Developent (through B.Ed. in Foundation Course & Post Graduate Diploma Course in Spl. Edn.) and different skill development Training Course. Among the Staff, there are Trained Social Workers, Master Trainers, Specialist in different sectors of Disability Welfare field from various National Institutes & Master Trainers of different Skill Development Vocational Programmes.
