Organisation History
D-CACUS-EDUCATION CENTRE is one of the Registered Voluntary Organisations working in the field of Science, Technology, Environment, Indology, Fine Arts, Literature, Economy, Culture, Health, Eradication of Social Evils, Empowerment of Women & Youths, Income Generation, Agriculture, Horticulture and Education etc.in Manipur (A State of India in the North Eastern Region).
In the year 1987-88, a few educated young people belongs to the Bishnupur District analysed the situation and given a thought of the horrible future of the District as well as Manipur State. The young people were concerned for their own people with commitment. They started working with and sensitizing the issues which are controlling their living standards.
Above all, the most rural areas were under developed and people needs Education, Good Health and Good Environment for the betterment and Development of the Society. Without any support from Government or any others' support, the youths destined to work with people. The interaction with people has opened the eyes of Youth. In the beginning, resentment of people, Oppression of upper caste and class people has intensified the commitment and activities. They started believing that outside help is futile until & unless we built our capacities and be part of our own development. They changed their attitude and in turn started changing the attitude of people and established the Organisation.
To establish such an organisation in the interest of the General Public, Dr. I.S. KONTHOUJAM (Ibochouba Singh Konthoujam), a resident of Ningthoukhong Ward No. 9, Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur District, Manipur-795126(INDIA) aspired himself to do Social Activities for Rural Areas & Weaker Sections of the Society. Actually, Shri I.S. Konthoujam, Founder Chairman of the Organisation started thinking himself from his class-VIth standard for the Development & Upliftment of the Society as he found Social problems in his study as well as he was from a poor family.
So, he started thinking for christening such an organisation in the interest of the General Public and christened as The Development On Communication, Arts & Culture, Science, Economic and Education Centre (D-CACUS-EDUCATION CENTRE), DCEC. After christening such a name, he was asking to different eminent persons of Manipur for Procedure of Registration and necessary guidance in the interest of the General Public. But, Nobody was trying to support and guide him.
Then, he was not asking to anybody in any matter and he started reading various books on related subjects. Lastly, he prepared himself all the documents, objectives of Organisation for registration under the Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989 (Act. No.1 of 1990), Government of Manipur and he planned for conducting a General Body Meeting for formation and establishment of such an Organisation.
At the time of starting the process, he called a General Body Meeting for like minded people for establishment of such an organisation. In the Meeting, Shri Rajkumar Viteshwor Singh, a resident of Ningthoukhong, Manipur was selected as 2nd best Member and Mr. M. Roshan Singh, Mr. R.K. Ajitkumar Singh, Mr. M. Shantakumar Meetei, Mr. A. Dinesh Singh, Mr. Th. Ibomcha Singh and other Members were admitted themselves. After getting admission, they shared their feelings and goodness of the Organisation. They contributed some amount as their first contribution to the Organisation.
Thus, Our Organisation was established in the month of December 23rd, 1988 and the said name was approved by the Members of the Organisation.
The Organisation was founded and ready for Registration to the Government of Manipur. A General Body Meeting was held on 3rd January, 1993 (Sunday) at 2.30 p.m. for Registration and further Development of the Organisation. and registered on 25th February, 1993 under Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989 (Act No. 1 of 1990). After the Registration of the Organisation, Mr. Kh. Ramananda Singh, Mr. H. Suresh Singh, Mr. L. Shyam Singh were admitted as the First & Active Volunteers alongwith other members of the Organisation. The total Number of Managing Committee was consisting of 7 (Seven) Members.
