Goals
To conduct skill training for 30 new adults with disabilities in Tiruchirapalli district in co-operation with NIMH, NIEPMD and to make at least 50% of them employable.
To start diploma in special education (MR)in vocational training stream in the campus thus creating more vocational trainers in the region.
To start a dedicated Vocation Screening ^ Job counseling centre for persons with intellectual disabilities.
To work more effectively with national organisations like PARIVAR to achieve constitutional influence to obtain allocation and identification of suitable jobs for target group.
To upgrade Primary School for tribal children into High School on Kalrayanhills.


Capabilities & Challenges
Provided high school education for 510 girls on Kalrayan hills and east cost of Tamilnadu. vocational training for 30 adults with intellectual disabilities with placement of 12.
Capacity building training was provided for ten senior staff.
Primary school education for 177 tribal children in english medium on Kalrayanhills.
Awareness in the society on equal human rights of for persons with intellectual disabilities.


Impact: Indicators & Progress
  • Special School for children with intellectual disabilities established since 1995 and hundreds of children have benefitted.
    20 Self advocates and 10 Mentors of self advocacy trained in the region.
    Evaluation survey conducted by Bishop Heber College in 2014 has proved that we have effected a positive changes in the attitude of the society in accepting equal rights and equal opportunities of persons with intellectual disabilities in Tiruchirapalli district through awareness campaigns.
    436 tribal girls provided schooling during 2014 under educational sponsorship scheme.
    Established english medium primary school for tribal children on Kalrayanhills since 2006.
    Vocational Training Centre established in 2014 and 30 adults with intellectual disabilities were provided job training in agriculture, production and handicrafts field.

Background

Organisation History
Intact (Integrated Action Trust) was established in 1992 by Thomas Ebenezer who by helping those in need of food, shelter and a sense of security is living his dream.
Intact is a non-profit, charity organisation working to empower individuals with intellectual and multiple disabilities, mountain tribes and poor women. The aim is to enable them to live independently and be included in society.


Purpose & Strategies
Intact works to achieve equal rights and equal opportunities for all. Intact connects people to attain a new order of life by sharing and caring.


Vision
To achieve an egalitarian society where every human is accepted and given opportunities to develop and perform to the fullest potential without any discrimination.
