Background

Organisation History
Lend A Hand India was founded in New York when five young professionals with Indian origins came together to give back to the country they were born and brought up in. Starting with USD 500 (app INR 20,000 at that time) and 2 schools in the cold winter of Dec 2004 in New York and rest is history !


Purpose & Strategies
Lend-A-Hand India's mission is to make a difference in the lives of the poor through self help.


Vision
By partnering with grassroots non-profit organizations, community groups, and local governments, we create better access to education, vocational training, career development, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. Our goal is to help the poor realize their full potential to meet their aspirations for a better life.

We are proud to share with you that Sunanda Mane (Ashoka Fellow 2011), co-founder and President, Lend-A-Hand India has been conferred with the reputed Ashoka Globalizer Fellowship 2012. The Ashoka Globalizer is a highly selective fellowship program which aims to broaden the scale of innovative social initiatives, which have succeeded at a local/regional level by providing financial and strategic support to take them to the global scale.
