Goals
• Capacity building of Tribal, Dalits, Gypsies, women and the marginalised rural poor in this region through life education skills to alleviate poverty by ensuring their basic needs fulfilled.
• Ensuring their the civic participation in equal footing with others to ensure their civil rights and economic, social and cultural rights are protected
• Providing to every child in the region equal quality education. Ensuring the practical general education combined with some skills for the illiterate to equip themselves to earn living in the global economy.
• Protection of the environment and help with target group to for adaptation and mitigation of global warming.
• Human rights promotion, protect the marginalised groups, women, children and female children particular.
• Ensuring rightful position of minorities and indigenous people in the society.

Impact: Indicators & Progress
  • 1. 100% enrollment of and school going children in 3 Gypsy habitations and 37 Tribal habitations. Capacity building program and human rights education among the among the Gypsies and tribal.
    2. Totally 9130 children were helped to complete the school education in the past ten years.
    3. Promotion of self help through skills training for 1000 young girls and boys and Socio, economic empowerment of women below poverty life by promotion of nearly 500 self help groups

Background

Organisation History
The organisation CECOWOR was established in the year 1992 by group of like minded, and socially concerned as well as trained Youth leaders. Over the years their aim have been to participate in the struggle over all development of the marginalised people like women, children, Gypsies,Tribal, dalits(low caste) and other rural poor dehumanised sections. People concerned have been the main actors of the programme and their knowledge and their participation had been the key elements our projects. These led them toward having better control over their life and enjoy benefit of combined strength and group sprit. Giving basic awareness education, capacity building, community organisation combined with some life skills has been the strategy for upliftment of theses people. Starting from a cluster of 3 villages now CECOWOR has expanded its horizon to whole of Gingee taluk helping out thousands of women, children and youth.


Purpose & Strategies
Empower, create an enabling environment and capacitate for the liberation and development of marginalized people like women, children, low caste and other rural poor.
Encourage maximum people’s participation so that they have better control over their life and enjoy the benefits of combined strength and spirit


Vision
Witness a just society for the underprivileged, especially for women and children
