Leprosy Eradication and Rehabilitation

We are giving every month chemotherapy treatment (MDT) to all detected cases. Every new found patient gets MDT treatment for curing the infection. This activity aims to prevent deformity through early detection and treatment.

Physiotherapy treatment is also given to our deformed patients as well as active and passive exercises, wax baths and oil massages. Ulcer patients are getting ulcer dressing treatment and we advise these patients how to keep the limbs (hands &feet) without blisters and ulcers.

Free Mobile Medical Camp:

Every Month We are conducting free mobile camps in our Area.

1) At Chellaiya Nagar in our MAHELERECEN Maruthuva Maiyam (Leprosy Centre),Madurai.

2) At Thiruparankundram block Villages, Madurai districts.

3) At Alager Kovil Block villages,Madurai district.

4) At Alanga Nallour block Villages, Madurai district.

5) at Melakkal Block villages, Madurai districts.

6) at Karupayurani Block villages, Madurai District.

7) At Nathan Block villages, Dindigul District.

We are conducting Health Education Programme for the school going children, Industrial workers, and also to the public regarding general health, hygiene, safe drinking water and facts about leprosy with scientific factors and other infectious diseases of TB, HIV/AIDS. We educate through giving of lectures with the help of our health education materials pamphlets, Flip charts, flash cards, slide shows, and with the public addressing system.

Our health education of audio visual DVD 's support by Thare Machi education ,UK ( http://www.tme.org.uk/ ) and Leprosy DVD from The Leprosy Mission, India and Edubyte, USA & Australia.

Organisation Profile

Brief Description
Our Centre is rendering Health education, Case detection, Treatment and Rehabilitation services. Our organization is doing health education and leprosy awareness programmes to the Educational Institutions, industrial workers and also the public. Our total recorded leprosy cases are 598, and out of this cases disabled (deformity) cases are 165.
We also conducting socio Economic Rehabilitation programme (SER) for the cured deformed leprosy persons to lift up their economic status. Up to now benefited persons are 80.

We are interested collaborate the corporate for CSR programmes under.

1.Nutritional flour preparation by unemployed poor women. (this flour will be distributed to poor child family)
2.Educational center in every slum population. appoint a one local teacher / graduate for the children.
3.Make women’s group and create the income generating activity.
4.Medical camp in rural and slum areas. (dental and eye care also)
5.Girl child health care.
6.Health education to all girl children age from 12 to 17 and etc.
