AMRIT Clinics are the flagship initiative of BHS, providing preventive, promotive and primary curative care to about 10,000 families living in far-flung, scattered areas not otherwise served by the public health system. The organization presently runs 4 such clinics- 3 of which are in very remote panchayats in Salumbar block, and the 4th and newest in Gogunda block, in Udaipur. Each clinic is set up in a community building following a contract with the local self-government and serves a population of about 10,000 - 12,000 individuals, which are nearly 100% tribal.
The clinics are managed by skilled and qualified nurses and supported by community health workers and volunteers. A physician supervises and mentors clinic staff through weekly visits and is available 24X7 for tele-consultation. An ambulance facilitates emergency and planned referral linkages with healthcare facilities at block and district levels. Appropriate technology for diagnostics, tele-consultation and to store medical records helps ensure high quality of care. Social contracts with private hospitals enable referral care.
