Background

Organisation History
Swami Sachidananda Bharathi is a former Indian Air Force Squadron Leader turned seeker of truth and promoter of peace. Because of his Air Force background he is also known as ‘Air Force Baba’. An encounter with death in an air accident in 1982 was the ‘turning point’ in his life. He was initiated into spiritual life in 1984. He received ‘Acharya diksha’ in 1990. He entered Sanyasa in 2001. He founded the ‘Bharathi Chaturashrama Sanyasa Parampara‘ in 2003 and took the name ‘Swami Sachidananda Bharathi’.
Navasrushti International Trust was set up in 2005 to articulate Swami Sachidananda Bharati's vision of a hunger-free India. He handed over the actual implementation to Paramjeet Singh who formed a team and gave the organisation structure. With a modest beginning of providing Midday meal in one school to 50 children, the organization has grown to a commendable force having its own infrastructure facilities and expanding the scope of its activities to deal with the underlying causes of hunger by providing education, health care, livelihood skills, empowerment and placements.

Purpose & Strategies
MISSION: Empowering the beneficiaries by creating awareness & opportunities in Education & Employment
We have a 3E Approach- Education, Employment & Empowerment.
-We intervene in schools and improve the overall learning and teaching conditions.
-We provide mid-day meals, teacher training and improve the quality of educational practices being followed.
-We provide vocational training to unemployed youth and help them earn livelihoods.

DBM has been working on both areas of education and employment for many years and based on our experience we have now moved to DBM 2.0 during the Pandemic, realigning and restructuring our work to make it more relevant for the changing times. In fact we have now started working on DBM 3.0 which is our strategy for the next 5-7 years.

Vision
To be enablers for the under-served children, youth and women thus aiming at
"Hunger Free Communities"
