The management of Paracor Company Inc [Paracor], a New York based private equity firm, conceived ANEW and envisioned its core beliefs, based on the inspiration gained from an organization in the USA named Non-traditional Employment for Women (NEW). Mr. M.K.Kumar, the then Chairman of Pierce Leslie India Ltd and a member on the Advisory Board of Paracor, with his passion for social work, helped move the project forward in India, from conception to commissioning. In 1997, well before the need for women empowerment in the formal employment sector was felt by the society,ANEW was registered under Tamil Nadu societies act, under the active guidance of Mr. M.K.Kumar. A management committee was formed to run the affairs of ANEW with Mrs. Lakshmi Kumar, wife of Mr. M.K.Kumar, as the first President.
Provide practical skills through training in traditional and non-traditional areas of employment. Create avenues for employment by increasing awareness of ANEW’s vision and mission among like-minded people in society.Enlist the support of volunteers competent in the chosen area for imparting training. Mobilise funds from individual and institutional donors. Create necessary infrastructure to widen the scope and scale of training in chosen areas.
To enhance the Socio-economic status of young underprivileged women by empowering them with self-confidence and required skills to enable them to become independent and contribute to family and society.
