Goals
1. Strengthening skill development and income generation activities for rural poor women.
2. INRM for Livelihood & Food security of marginalized sections.
3. Education, Training and extra curricular activities for adolescent girls to check child marriage.


Capabilities & Challenges
1. To assist and develop Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and socio- economically Backward classes by providing support.
2. To take appropriate steps for better utilization of Man power & Natural resources by undertaking survey, research, documentation, capacity enhancement & training, technology transfer, resource management, and development and to conserve traditional painting, arts, crafts, music and dance forms, games and sports etc.
3. To develop the conditions of villages, slums, cities and industrial areas and to promote agriculture, co-operatives, self-help groups, small & cottage industries, Khadhi & Village Industries, Farmer's club, Women/Youth club, Science & Technology clubs and Forest protection Committees, Eco-conservation Clubs etc

Background

Organisation History
“Serve–SEWA” stands for ‘Serve the Society for Empowerment and Women Advancement’ It was established in the year 2000 and got its legal status on 11th October 2001, on Birth centenary day of Jaiprakash Narayana, as a non- profit & non- political Trust. Since then, Serve-SEWA has been making sincere attempts for development of rural poor families, especially women, by suitable farm and non-farm activities. The working team of Serve SEWA includes experienced social workers, who earlier extending their services to different NGOs by means of information, consultancy and services in their social development activities, later on decided to activate themselves directly through grass -root interventions.
Serve-SEWA believe that our villages still lack basic amenities and services of day-to-day life.
It always inspiring Serve-SEWA team for a dedicated service of mankind, following the ideals of truth, non-violence, co-operation and total revolution etc.
We try to plan our activities in such manner which ensure the sustainability of impact after post project period. For this purpose, we involve the target community from the beginning till completion of any programme / project.


Purpose & Strategies
Serve-SEWA mission is to mobilize, aware and empower poor disadvantaged population, with prime focus on women & child, disabled, destitute and other marginalized sections for sustainable & equitable socio-economic, educational, cultural, mental & physical, ecological and political advancement.


Vision
Serve-SEWA visualizes a peaceful, equitable, just and progressive value based advanced society, with truly empowered citizens, free from any caste, religion, gender and socio-economic related discrimination.

Chief Executive's Profile
Mr. Maruti Dasgupta, BA, LL.b, is the founder and the Chief Executive of the Trust. He joined NGO sector in 1986 as Research Assistant at VSK, Banda (U.P). Later on he had served at NBJK, Hazaribagh, AID, Chennai, LPK, Chatra in different capacities i.e. Project Manager, Director Administration, Project Planner & Researcher from 1991 to 1999 and discharged the responsibilities of project planning & implementation, monitoring, reporting, training and evaluation etc. Mr. Dasgupta initiated the formation process of Serve SEWA in year 2000 and has been continuing as its team leader since then.
