Goals
1. To have significant improvement in nutritional levels amongst the children of age 0-10 years
2. To improve immunization rates in children
3. To improve the awareness amongst Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers on Newborn care and Nutrition
3. To reduce unmet need for contraception in women in the reproductive age group
5. To reach out to maximum adolescents for Adolescent Life Education Program
6. Build capacities of the public health systems to impart quality care and service


Capabilities & Challenges
1. Improving health and nutrition status of both mother and children of 0-5 years age by the partnership with Integrated Child Development Services(ICDS) and with the government health systems
2. Improving maternal outcomes by appropriate referrals.
3. Improving the uptake of services from the public health system by appropriate referrals and awareness.
4. Improving understanding amongst the adolescents on key health issues such as mental health, nutrition, reproductive and sexual health
5. Helping to build community ownership in addressing the health issues of the community they live in.


Impact: Indicators & Progress
  • 1. Reached approx 25 lakh of Direct beneficiaries through Preventive and Curative health services
    2. 10 lakh children under 10 years of age benefitted through malnutrition interventions.
    3. 100% immunization achieved
    4. 2 lakh + pregnant and lactating mothers were served
    5. 100% ANC registration and institutional deliveries achieved.
    6. Increase in uptake of contraception for family planning
    7. 80% recovery rate from malnutrition among children and adolescents.

Background

Organisation History
Niramaya Health Foundation, a Mumbai-based non-profit organization was started in June 2001, to tackle commonly found micronutrient deficiencies in preschool children. Since Niramaya’s inception, the health care focus has broadened, addressing three major areas of public health - child health and nutrition, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, women’s health and nutrition. Niramaya has also expanded the range of health care programs from curative to preventive and promotive health care.
In all these years, Niramaya has developed cost effective and scalable health care programs through effective community interventions.


Purpose & Strategies
To fight for an anaemia free world for the children of India and
To sensitize adolescents on their reproductive rights and sexual health.


Vision
Niramaya Health Foundation is committed to ensuring a disease free childhood for a healthy and responsible adulthood.
