FIGHTING HUNGER
Description
Hunger Free India-MIDDAY MEAL: The midday meal programme is to address the malnutrition and anaemia that exists in a large number of school going children who come from poor families.

The hot and nutritious meal provided at lunch time in the schools has not only dealt with this but has helped to reduce drop out percentage and increase the attention span and concentration of children.

Objectives
The basic Foundation Activity of Dharma Bharathi Mission is the Midday Meal programme for unaided schools in unprivileged areas in India. Currently, a warm and nutritious meal is provided to students studying in the underprivileged schools of Deonar, Govandi and Mankhurd Area which incidentally is the Garbage Dumping Yard of Mumbai with a population of ten lakh, with innumerable children compelled to work to earn their meal, where dirt and disease coexist and school and structure are insufficient.

Programme Achievements
  • The DBM mid-day meal has produced dramatic results in terms of increased enrollment in schools, retained attendance levels, reduced drop-out rates and better attention spans.
Programme Goals
The goal of DBM is to help every child in India get a full education by providing wholesome meals in under privileged schools and to ensure that no poor child in the country goes to bed without one meal a day.

Programme Title
EMPOWERMENT THROUGH VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Description
All Dharma Bharathi Mission centers run Vocational training programmes for the uneducated, dropouts, destitute, youth and women. A variety of courses has established, so that every student may choose a training according to his or her taste.
Every course is combined with soft skills training, spoken English, life skills and computer application. The programs are designed to equip the youth with livelihood skills and instill confidence in them thus increasing their employability.

Programme Goals
Dharma Bharathi Mission seeks to improve the employment chances of drop-out students or students, who stopped school between the 8th and the 10th Standard.

EDUCATION
Description
DBM works in schools which are mostly non-municipal where children from disadvantaged communities study. The organisation supplies the school with various programs such as English classes, computer and science labs, libraries and study centres. All interventions at are aimed at improving the student learning outcomes by providing a boost to all the support sections in schools via teacher training and study material support.

Objectives
Our key programmes are :
• Vocational Training Centres are equipped with computers. We offer certificate courses in various vocations such as para-nursing, tailoring and beautician. WE also offer various computer programmes of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) and National Institute of InformationTechnology (NIIT)
• M-POWER Library cum Study Centre at Deonar, Govandi to provide the underprivileged children a medium to study, a quiet place to study, workshops for their development and books that are difficult to get
• DBM Scholarship Programme. Students who have ambition for themselves and are capable to achieve their dreams but lack financially, are considered for the scholarship program. Our scholarship includes • Champion Scholarship- for class 6th to class 9th students • Scholarship- for class 11th and 12th students • Scholarship for Undergraduates. In June 2022, we launched our most ambitious UDAAN Scholarship Programme for School and College Students. Under the school cohort we have adopted 45 meritorious and deserving students from class 9 for 7 years during which all their educational needs will be taken care of by us. Under the College cohort -we will similarly mentor 20 SY college student scholars for 2 years.
• Teen Leadership Program (TLP).This is an offshoot of the Youth Leadership Program (YLP) and focuses on the importance of working and planning their careers.
• Youth Leadership Program (YLP) aims at building leadership through conscious, continuous learning in young adults through a process of facilitation in a group learning format. Through this journey of sessions over 6 months, the youth connect with themselves and with other self-aware and driven individuals like them and explore the depths of leadership.
• E Learning. During the Covid19 times, students were provided with Tabs and data packs and connected to teachers either individually or in groups of 8 to ensure that there was no disconnection from their students. Once the COVID19 restrictions came down we still continued the e-learning sessions. Now the students can come to all our DBM centres and use the computer labs to complete their assignments.
