Health Programme
Description
In our health project CR runs three outpatient clinics providing free medicines and related services for a host of conditions. Patients from urban as well as the rural areas visit our clinic. The clinic provides screening of new patients referred from Government Hospitals, high quality treatment for specialized diseases, wound dressing, and health education.
Treatment for special categories of patients –suffering from Cancer, Aplastic aneamia, Thalassaemia, Neurological Disorders, Tuberculosis, Multi – Drug Resistant Tuberculosis, Thyroid disorder, Wilson’s Disease, Respiratory Disorder, Diabetes, Cardiac problems, Rheumatology and renal failure. Medicines which are not provided by government hospitals are supplied free of cost to the eligible patients.

Programme Title
Education Program
Description
The schools of Calcutta Rescue help underprivileged children, by providing educational facilities to such children. Children join the two non formal schools – School Number 1 and Talapark School, providing preliminary education for children aged 4 to 6 years. Our program prepares the children for admission into government schools and provides full support throughout their school life with nutrition, educational material, health screening, computer classes and extracurricular activities. Calcutta Rescue supports the education of over 600 underprivileged students in different mainstream (formal) schools..

Programme Title
Handloom & Handicrafts Project
Description
The Handicraft project was started to provide employment for people whose opportunities for work were severely limited owing to illness. It operates from a workshop in the Sova Bazaar area of North Kolkata.. Students who have had difficulty with academic education or dropped out of school are also employed.
The Handicrafts project has 29 trainees, all former patients from our clinic or drop-out students from our schools – in addition to the 12 regular daily staff. The project produce a wide range of handicrafts that are sold both in India and abroad and also makes clothes for the patients and students at Calcutta Rescue’s Clinics and schools. The Handicrafts Project also works closely with our Weaving Project using the cloth that has been spun and woven there. This project provides vocational training for rural youth. The weaving project employs 9 trainees and 3 staff.
